For their latest menu, The Good Egg is serving its signature shakshuka with some of the restaurant’s most popular meze dishes for a Middle Eastern brunch feast.

The tomato and roasted red pepper shakshuka is slow-cooked with warming spices overnight to deepen its flavour. It’s then baked with free-range eggs and topped with salty nuggets of golden halloumi and spiced lamb merguez sausage. “We finish it with zesty sumac, fresh coriander and our tangy, house-made preserved lemon yoghurt – that’s what makes it really stand out from other shakshukas out there,” says co-founder Alex Coppard, “and we always serve it with fluffy Israeli pita breads for soaking up all the sauce.”

The meze can be enjoyed either before or alongside the shakshuka. It includes hummus with fragrant rose harissa; tangy feta cheese and herb dip; and spiced lamb arayes – The Good Egg’s take on a Lebanese street food favourite, made by stuffing pita breads with cumin-spiced lamb merguez sausage meat and grilling them until golden. These are served with mayonnaise flavoured with amba (pickled mango sauce) for dunking.

To take the feast to the next level, there’s also an option to add fresh blood orange mimosas or a loaf of limited edition babka to the feast. The babka is swirled with chocolate ganache and salted hazelnut butter, drizzled with chocolate and finished with a crispy hazelnut streusel.
